Built for the Bush DVD - LIMITED COPIES AVAILABLE
Green Architecture of Rural Australia
Sustainable design is not a new concept. The Sydney Living Museums travelling exhibition Built for the bush explores energy-efficient rural housing from the 19th century to now.
Early settlers built basic, resource-efficient homes form simple necessity. Today's architects are increasingly aware of the environmental impact of creating and maintaining modern housing. To harness and conserve energy, they are now reappraising the low-energy solutions of the 19th century rural house.
In this documentary from the exhibition, some of Australia's leading architects and owner-builders discuss the relevance of traditional rural building solutions to today's architecture.
Included on the DVD are extended interviews with a selection of the architects and owner-builders.
