Plants, native to Australia and New Zealand, were collected and illustrated during Sir Joseph Banks' voyage to Australia & New Zealand on the Endeavour

Joseph Banks (1743-1820) successfully lobbied the Royal Society to be included on what became James Cook's first voyage on board the Endeavour (1768-1771). Banks subsequently played a significant role in the British colonisation of Australia. These beautiful illustrations are from his master work, "Florilegium".
