Petals and Thread Iconic Tear Drop Earring

$49.95

This collection has been created in collaboration with Moe Moe Design in memory of the past inhabitants of the Hyde Park Barracks.

The underfloor cavities at the Hyde Park Barracks have revealed thousands of textile fragments during archaeological excavations.

Most date from 1848 to 18876, a period when the Barracks was home mostly to women: an Irish orphan refuge (184852), an immigration depot (184876), and a shelter or asylum for the aged, infirm and destitute (186286). The textiles may have been lost under the floorboards, removed by rodents or intentionally discarded or concealed.
