The skull-shaped clay pipe featured on the magnet was manufactured around 1845 by Duméril in Saint-Omer, northern France, shipped to Sydney and then lost during the demolition of the site of first Government house. It lay underground for almost 150 years, until Archaeologist Denis Gojak excavated it in 1983.
